Cherry Ghost - Thirst For Romance (UK)

Debuting in the UK charts at #7 and included near the top of numerous year end lists, Cherry Ghost's acclaimed debut album "Thirst For Romance" gets its stateside release on Caroline Records on March 25.  A record of fractured romance with a slow burning sense of optimism, it’s wonderfully rich and intense album rooted in classic story telling.  The album includes the soaring ballad "People Help The People", which will be featured on the Oprah Winfrey primetime ABC TV series, “Oprah’s Big Give”.

CLASSIC REISSUES!
Caroline Records is proud to present classic reissues in limited mini album sleeves! These titles have been out of print for years and the first batch will street on 02/05/08. Here's the run down on the titles.

DIVINYLS: Desperate
Formed in Australia in the early 80’s by axe-wielding, school girl-uniform-and-fishnet-wearing Chrissy Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee, the Divinyls are best known in the US for their top five hit "I Touch Myself". Their debut album, "Desperate" is a far cry from their pop hits –featuring storming guitars, Amphlett’s growling vocals, hook-laden songs and the twisted lyrical bent that defined them throughout their career

* "Desperate" has been out of print for over ten years!

* The band has just reformed and will release a new album in 2008.

* Includes the college radio hits "Boys In Town", "Science Fiction" and "Only Lonely
PLASMATICS: Coup d’etat
One of the wildest groups ever to come out of New York (and that’s saying something), the Plasmatics were formed by Rod Swenson in the 70’s as a band/confrontational art project. While other groups played at being dangerous, the Plasmatics truly were, frequently blowing up cars at their shows and cranking out a remarkable punk rock racket. Lead singer Wendy O Williams typically appeared onstage topless, and the band were persecuted by local lawmakers everywhere they went, much like the early Sex Pistols.

* Plasmatics pioneered the fusion of punk and metal on this much overlooked album.
HURRICANE : Take What You Want (1985), Over The Edge (1988), Slave To The Thrill (1990)

Hurricane burst out of the legendary mid-80’s LA metal scene and gained an instant following across the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Their albums have been in demand and out of print since the early 90’s.  Quiet Riot's Kevin DuBrow introduced Robert Sarzo and Tony Cavazo in the early 80s, and they decided to form the band with singer Kelly Hansen and drummer Jay Schellen.

· Their initial EP release Take What You Want, was never released on CD in the US. It is expanded here and includes the original cover art.

· Over The Edge, includes the top 40 radio hit, I’m On To You and was produced by Mike Clink (Guns ‘N Roses) and executive produced by Bob Ezrin (Kiss, Pink Floyd).

· Slave To The Thrill was originally released with a cover image by the legendary photographer Scarpati that was later banned, but is restored here!

· All albums digitally remastered

After 2 triumphant shows in the states, Carbon/Silicon are back in their hometown of London playing a residency dubbed 'The Carbon Casino'. The first show went off like gangbusters, with ex-Clash drummer Topper Headon joining the boys on stage for raucous renditions of 2 Clash classics:  'Should I Stay Or Should I Go' and 'Train In Vain'. Check out some youtube footage here. This was the first time Mick and Topper have played together in 25 years and the crowd was understandably ecstastic. Check the reviews in the Guardian, NME and XFM.

Listen to Carbon/Silicon on NPR's World Cafe here. Recorded during their recent trip to the states, The 17-minute session includes (brief) acoustic versions of "Why Do Men Fight",  "Magic Suitcase", "Should I Stay or Should I Go", and a slightly-more-radio-friendly-than-usual rendition of "What The Flux?"
